CleanTheFloor is an independent resource for people trying to work out which vacuum, mop or floor cleaner is actually right for their home. We research the options, weigh up the evidence and explain the trade-offs in plain language, so you can spend your money once and get it right.
We have been publishing floor-care reviews and cleaning guides since 2015. In that time the market has filled up with near-identical machines, confident marketing claims and specification sheets that rarely tell you how something behaves on a real floor. Our job is to cut through that.
How we choose products
Every recommendation starts with research rather than a press release. We gather independent test results, laboratory findings, expert assessments, manufacturer documentation and verified owner reports, then compare what those sources agree and disagree on.
Cleaning performance
How the machine handles the surfaces it is actually sold for: bare floors, low pile, deep pile, grout lines and upholstery.
Build and reliability
Warranty terms, common failure points reported by owners, and how easily filters, belts and brush rolls can be replaced.
Everyday usability
Weight, noise, bin emptying, cable or battery life, and whether the thing is pleasant enough to use that you will keep using it.
Suitability
Pets, allergies, stairs, home size and floor mix. The right answer changes completely depending on what you are cleaning.
Value for money
Not the cheapest option, but the point where paying more stops buying you anything you will notice.
Running costs
Replacement filters, bags and batteries, because the purchase price is rarely the whole cost of owning a machine.

No brand can pay to appear on this site, to be placed higher in a ranking, or to have a critical point removed. We do not publish sponsored posts, and we do not run copy written by manufacturers or their agencies.
When the evidence is thin, or a product has only been assessed on specifications and owner reports rather than independent testing, we say so in the article. We would rather tell you what we do not know than imply certainty we have not earned.

Keeping our content current
Prices move, models get revised and manufacturers quietly discontinue the machine you were about to buy. We revisit published guides, re-check that our picks are still available and still sensible, and update the verdict when the evidence changes.
Where a recommendation no longer holds up, we remove it. A guide that is quietly out of date is worse than no guide at all.
Who is behind CleanTheFloor
CleanTheFloor is a small independent site, not a large publisher. It is edited by Sharaj, who founded it in 2015 and whose byline appears on the articles.
That matters for a simple reason: if a recommendation here is wrong, there is a named person to hold responsible rather than an anonymous editorial team. Corrections are genuinely welcome.
